At Main Street Middle School we truly believe in an inclusive environment where all students are welcome and have equal access to a flexible, adaptable curriculum that is collaboratively developed among faculty. Classes are designed to reflect the natural diversity in the school community and students receive the supports necessary to participate within the general classroom. Teachers and related service providers are involved in: accommodating assignments; developing plans in collaboration with families; and implementing instruction. Teachers use different instructional strategies to ensure that all students participate, have access to learning with peers in the general classroom, and demonstrate individually appropriate progress.
With the support of families and the larger community, we are committed to ensuring a developmentally appropriate, safe, healthy, caring environment for learners in grades 5-8. We structure rigorous, challenging, and interactive learning experiences that develop students’ critical thinking and social values. We act as a bridge from the elementary grades to the high school, assess and meet individual and group needs, and prepare students to become lifelong learners and responsible citizens.
